Obituary for Lyn Walker-Meena

Walker-Meena, Edith Roslyn (Lyn), age 69, passed away on May 6, 2016, in Orlando, FL.
Lyn was born in Mobile, AL. on March 24, 1947, grew up in Louisville, KY, and has resided in Orlando for the past 19 years. Lyn received an undergraduate degree from the University of KY. She also earned graduate degrees from the University of Louisville and Indiana University, respectively. Her educational background was in Special-Education, where she worked as both an instructional program developer and teacher. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
Lyn loved gardening in “Ruby’s Garden,” traveling with her “Ladies of Leisure,” and swimming with friends at the local Y and Masters Team. She was also a dedicated “swim mom” to both Elliot and Amelia when they were growing up. Combining both her swimming and special-education experiences, Lyn served many years as a swim coach for the Special Olympics Florida/Orange County “Man O’ War” swim team.
She is survived by husband, Victor Meena; daughter, Amelia Meena of New York City; son, Elliot Meena of Charleston, SC; brothers, Page Walker (Karen) of Jeffersonville, IN, and Steve Walker of Louisville, KY; step-sister, Lou Ann Maurer (Doug) of Louisville, KY and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Burial will be at Cave Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, May 18 at 11:30 a.m. (queue at Broadway Gate entrance), followed by a Memorial Gathering at the Peterson-Dumesnil House from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.
