Obituary for Martin J. Amlung Jr.

AMLUNG, Martin J., Jr.,

born October 27, 1927, loving husband to his wife of 67 years, Clara Mary; and loving father to five children Martin Joseph III (RiAna), Carla Rose, Patrick (Lisa), Thomas (Pam), and Virginia Reitan. He also leaves eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and the extended family of his deceased sisters, Mary Rose Jurt (Walt), Freida Kraus (Earl) and Nell Speaker (Jack).

Martin graduated from St. Xavier High School, and served in the US Army Air Force at the end of World War II. He studied at the US Air Force meteorology school, and the University of Louisville. Working as a CPA, he retired after 32 years of service as a Partner with Ernst & Ernst (presently Ernst & Young), including serving as the manager of the firm's Hopkinsville, KY office in 1957. He was a member of several professional and accounting organizations and was past president of NAA, National Association of Accounts-Louisville.

Services will be held at his parish where he worshiped for many years, St. Leonard Church, 440 Zorn Ave., at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
