Meeting With the Funeral Home

Chances are, within the first 24 hours of your loved one’s death, you will need to meet with a funeral home to begin the final arrangements. While you could choose to meet with us, you could also decide to meet with another funeral provider.

Without a doubt, this is a difficult time for you and your loved ones. Yet, it’s comforting to know every member of the funeral home staff will be there to do their utmost to make this difficult time a little bit easier. The Funeral Director will guide you in making all the necessary decisions. It’s good to know you are not alone.

The First Decision: Burial or Cremation?

This is one of the major questions which must be addressed when a death occurs, and the answer usually depends on a variety of things. For example, if your family has traditionally chosen burial in previous generations, you may again decide to choose earth burial, simply because your family own plots together in a local cemetery.

Cremation, as you may know, is the accelerated reduction of the remains to ash, traditionally through the process of heat and fire.

Funeral Pre-Planning Services

So, you're thinking about making your final arrangements? This checklist will help you make sure every detail is handled properly. At Highlands Funeral Home, were here to help inform you of all the decisions that you need to consider when pre planning a funeral.

The Benefits of Funeral Pre-Planning

One of the most significant benefits of funeral pre-planning is that it can help to reduce stress for your family. When a loved one passes away, family members are often left with the daunting task of organizing a funeral. Funeral pre-planning can remove this burden and allow your family to focus on grieving and celebrating your life. Additionally, you can make decisions about your funeral in advance, ensuring that it reflects your wishes.

Another benefit of funeral pre-planning is that it can help to save money. When you pre-plan your funeral, you can select the services and products that you want and make payments in advance, often at a discounted rate. This can help to reduce financial pressure on your family, as they won't need to worry about making decisions on your behalf and coming up with the funds to pay for the funeral.

Funeral pre-planning can also provide peace of mind to you and your family. Knowing that arrangements have been taken care of in advance can be reassuring and help ease the burden of making decisions during a difficult time. It can also be a way for you to leave a legacy for your loved ones, providing them with a personalized celebration of your life.

I'm glad my mother pre-arranged her funeral with Highlands many years ago. It made my job easier. My sister and I worked with Kate and found her very accessible and easy to reach with the multitude of questions I came up with. My mother chose Highlands after having a negative experience with Arch L. Heady in 1999 when her husband died. The staff was very sensitive to our needs and on the day of the viewing/service, Ben was attentive and ready to make any changes we requested. Everything went smoothly and Highland's made a difficult time easier.

Making funeral arrangements for a very special loved one is extremely hard but what made it bearable was having David Johnson help us through this process. Our heads and hearts were in a fog but he was as kind and caring as anyone. could hope for,no pressure,no trying to sell us something. Nothing but compassion ,,this was true of all employees we dealt with. Carla who did makeup wanted everything to be perfect. They are definitely a 5 star in my family's book.Thank you for being so kind and considerate.
