Obituary for Albert Anton

Albert J. Anton Jr. of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2010.
He was born in New York City on January 6, 1936 and lived in New Jersey for many years before settling in Louisville in 2005 with his wife of 51 years, Sara (Lembcke).
He was a graduate of Columbia University and the Wharton School of Business. He served in the United States Air Force in 1961-62.
He had a long and distinguished career as an oil analyst and was for over 30 years a partner and director of research with Carl H. Pforzheimer & Co. in New York City. He was a chartered financial analyst and a past president and honorary life member of the National Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts. In 1981, he was the featured guest on the popular television show, Wall Street Week.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, he was attending a meeting at the New York Society of Security Analysts on the 44th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center when terrorists crashed an airplane into the building above him. He was eternally grateful to the may rescue and security personnel who perished that day.
He was very active in civic matters and served on the board of trustees of South Orange, NJ in 1971-73. For many years, he was active in the YMCA of the Oranges, Maplewood and West Essex and served as chairman of the board. He was formerly a member of the advisory board of St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, NJ, from which he received an honorary diploma in 1982. He was recently an active member and instructor with the Veritas Society at Bellarmine University.
He is the son of the late Albert J. Anton and Helen (Cichoski) Anton. In addition to his wife, Sara, he is survived by his daughter, Claire, of Louisville; his sons, Christopher (Joanne), Randolph, NJ and Thomas, Fairfield, NJ; and seven grandchildren.
His funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1960 Bardstown Road, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
