Obituary for Albert "Junie" Finley

FINLEY,
Albert “Junie”, 72, of Louisville, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010. Al was born in Louisville on September 22, 1937.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Benjamin Finley, Sr., his mother, Weinel Finley, and more recently by his beloved wife of 44 years, Susan Finley.
Junie attended St. Xavier High School and joined the Navy in 1955. After leaving the Navy, Junie began working at the L & N Railroad, which later became CSX. Junie continued working at CSX until he retired. He still enjoyed his monthly lunches with the old gang from L & N.
Junie, with Susan, enjoyed traveling around the world from the Pyramids in Egypt, to the Amazon River, to the mountains in Peru, and all across Europe. All of his life, he was an avid animal lover, and he supported animal rights. Junie loved dogs, especially his Boxers. Since retiring, he also enjoyed swimming with his friends at Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center several times a week.
Junie is survived by his sister, Mary Margaret Gaudet (Bob); sisters-in-law, Nancy Renzi (Joe), and Linda Chism; nieces and nephews, Tracy McCubbin (Don), Nora (Corey), Madeline, Nick, Holly, Dana, and Rachel; and several great nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 – 8 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
