Obituary for Albert Joseph Luckett

LUCKETT, ALBERT JOSEPH PhD, 73, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2010.
He was the son of Martin and Ruth Luckett and brother to Carolyn Denning (Tom) and Mary Ann Riehl. He was born on April 6, 1937.
He had a passion for jazz music, baseball, woodworking and Impelizzeri's pizza. A lifelong learner, he was a graduate of Flaget High School, Bellarmine College, Spalding University and he received his doctorate from the University of Kentucky in 1979. He was an educator for 47 years. He retired from teaching at Jefferson Community College and University of Louisville in 2003.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 46 years, Norma (Crump) Luckett; his three children, Charles (Colleen), Matthew (Liz) and Jennifer Luckett; and four cherished grandchildren, Emily, Grace, Oscar and Shea.
Al believed in the goodness of all people and his life reflected that belief. He will be missed by all those who had the good fortune to know and love him.
Visitation will be Friday, October 29, 2010 from 3-7 p.m. at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. A funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (formerly Our Lady's Church) at 3411 Rudd Avenue, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010, with burial in Calvary Cemetery immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Sister Miriam Corcoran Scholarship Fund at Presentation Academy or to the Dr. Albert and Norma Luckett Scholarship at St. Xavier High School or by simply doing something kind for someone in his memory.
