Obituary for Alma Bell Looney (Cecil)

Alma Bell Looney, 97, passed away on February 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Earl and Susie Cecil raised Alma in Louisville, Kentucky, along with her four siblings named Bill, Mamie Rose, Ollie, and Joe. She graduated from Holy Rosary Catholic School in 1941 and worked at Brown Forman before marrying the love of her life Charles Byron Looney on November 28, 1942. Alma’s loving memory is survived by her children Sue Ann Kinyon (Chuck), Mary Rose Peake (Dick), Kathleen Fereday (Don), Terri Stewart (Mike), Don Looney, Polly Banks (Scott Toombs), eleven grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Alma was the Cecil/Looney matriarch and was admired and respected by all who knew her. She was tragically widowed in 1970 and would never remarry, devoting the rest of her life to caring for her parents, children, and grandchildren. The family takes comfort knowing she has finally rejoined her beloved husband in heaven.
