Obituary for Anita Joyce Downs (Fleischer)
Anita Joyce Downs, 84, passed away peacefully at Baptist East Hospital Palliative Care Unit on May 13th , 2018, surrounded by her friends and family.
Anita was born in Louisville, KY. Anita was preceded in death by her father, Earl Fleischer and her mother, Bertha Perkins Fleischer. She was also preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Robert Lee Downs, also of Louisville.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Downs Hannan, two granddaughters, Ashley Hannan Woodward (Kevin) and Aimee Hannan Goff (Aaron) and 9 great-grandchildren, Elijah, Reece, Quinn, Crew, Beckett, Finn, Beau, Merritt and Clark.
Anita was an active member of St. Matthews Baptist Church for 50 years, a volunteer at Baptist East Hospital for 20 years and a member of countless committee’s and organizations.
Anita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a faithful friend who she inspired and guided in so many ways. Anita will be remembered by her kindness, generosity and the loving words she wrote that touched so many lives.
Visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd, on Friday May 18th, 2018 from 4PM to 8 PM. Her Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Ave, at 9:30 AM Saturday, May 19th. Burial will be at Cave Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Music Ministry at St. Matthews Baptist Church.
