Obituary for Anne J. Schoenbachler (Schlee)

Anne Joan Schoenbachler, nee Schlee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, at Nazareth Home Clifton at the age of 95. She was born in Baltimore, MD, March 5, 1926. While working as a civil secretary at Fort Holabird Ordnance Depot during WWII she met her future husband, Forrest, from Louisville, who was stationed there before going oversees. Upon his return from the war they were married in Baltimore on June 29, 1946. She then moved to Forrest’s home in Louisville. They had an amazing romance that lasted 53 years until his death in 1999.
Mom was a loving and devoted wife and mother loved dearly by her children whom she supported and encouraged throughout their lives. She participated in many parish organizations at St. Raphael and Our Lady of Lourdes churches and was always eager to serve where she could. She was the treasurer and a counselor for Birthright of Louisville for 13 years as well a member of Queen’s Daughters and the Bellarmine University Women’s Council. She loved music, dancing, bowling, cooking, playing games and cards, especially bridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest (1999) and her brother, Fred (1988). Cherishing her memory are her sons, Forrest Jr. (Teri), Centreville, MD, and Timothy of Louisville; granddaughter, Devon (Sam), her niece, Sharron, and nephews, Dennis and Curtis of the Monroe family that she loved dearly. She had a special bond with her dear sister-in-law, Mary Rose Monroe - they were like sisters.

Visitation from 10:00-11:00 am, Monday, January 31st, Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., followed by a brief prayer service and burial in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mass of the Air and the Ursuline Sisters.
