Obituary for Barbara Hall Farkas (Sprowles)

Barbara Hall Farkas, 67, of Louisville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023 at University of Louisville Hospital.

Barbara was an avid quilter who loved to bless family and friends with her beautiful quilts. Her creativity extended to piano playing, gardening, watercolor painting, and cake decorating, where she never missed an opportunity to thrill her five grandchildren with festive birthday creations.

Barbara loved ginkgo trees, hummingbirds, history, Cave Hill Cemetery, toasted muffins with apricot preserves, and all things David Crowder. Nothing, however, compared to the unconditional love she displayed for her family through countless acts of selflessness.

Barbara was a committed Christian who walked with God from an early age. She fought the good fight and has finished the race, remaining faithful to the end.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Garland Sprowles and Irma Jean (Edlin) Sprowles.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Farkas; daughters, Megan Darko (John) and Sarah Hall (Patrick); stepdaughter, Olivia Farkas (Branden); grandchildren, Clover, Huxley, Lucy, Mimzy and Goldie; brother, Darrell Sprowles (Dana); and brother in law, Peter Farkas (Terra).

Barbara’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at University of Louisville Hospital in the 9 West Surgical ICU department for their compassionate care and support.
