Obituary for Bernie Elder

Bernie Ree Elder, 94, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Hillcreek Golden Living Center.
She was born November 20, 1915 in Elizabethtown, KY to Marshall and Mattie Goodman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Gervis L. Elder.
She was the youngest of five sisters and three brothers; survivors are her son, Jerry A. Elder (Mary Lou); four grandchildren, Mary, Edward, Karen and Steve; and four great-grandchildren.
She was a retired crossing guard for the Louisville Police Department, an avid UK and Cincy Red fan, and a senior bowler at Parkmoor Lanes for years. Bernie was also a member of Kenwood Heights Christian Church for over 55 years.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Monday at Highlands.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus or the Alzheimer's Association .
