Obituary for Bette J. VanMeter
Bette J. VanMeter, 93, passed away on June 10th, 2023. She was born on December 11th, 1929 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late Edward and Millie Fawbush.
She was a longtime employee of Churchill Downs as a pari-mutuel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David VanMeter, Sr.; and her son-in-law, Butch Richardson.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ed VanMeter (Laura); her daughters, Connie McKinney (Marc) and Lynda Richardson; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Bette’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, with her funeral service at 5:00 pm, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
Donations in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
