Obituary for Betty Jean Triplett (Cheatham)

Betty Cheatham Triplett, 92, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 3rd @ Norton Brownsboro Hospital. She was the daughter of Roy and Edna (Dorothy) Cheatham.

She graduated from Louisville Girls High where she played the cello and served as the Senior Class President. After graduating she attended University of Louisville and joined Cardinalette, which later merged with Delta Zeta. She met and married her husband, Don S. Triplett at U of L.

She received both her bachelor's and master's and was a special education teacher in Okolona until she retired. After retiring she was highly involved in a variety of activities ranging from volunteering at Norton Hospital’s Chaplain’s office, Episcopal Church Home, Episcopal Woman’s Board, Bell Choir, and Organist to name a few. She was one of the first female Lay Readers and Chalice Bearers in the Kentucky Diocese.

Betty is survived by her brother Charles Cheatham; children, Karen Meier (Frank), Linda Hale (Barney), Brian Triplett, Gary Triplett, Cheryl Snyder (Steve); grandchildren Alan Hale, Lauren Ashby, Kate Wagner and Alex Wagner; four great grandchildren, (Katelyn, Evan, Alexander and Brooke); and Jeanine Triplett (daughter by marriage).

Visitation will be Thursday, June 8th from 1-8pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Her funeral service will be Friday at 10:30 am at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 330 N Hubbard's Ln, Louisville, KY 40207, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
