Obituary for Beverly Jane "Janie" Massey (Brooks)

Beverly Jane Massey (Janie) was united with her husband in heaven on January 4, 2021 fifteen days after his passing. Janie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family due to complications related to Covid.
Janie was born on April 9, 1925 in Louisville, Ky. to William and Aileen Brooks. She graduated from Loretta High School and attended The University of Louisville. Janie worked in retail for a while before she met the love of her life, Bob. He swept her off her feet and they were married on September 3, 1946 as their 74 year long life together began.
Janie was the most loving, caring, generous and kind wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother you could ever imagine. She was the heart of her family and was loved so dearly by everyone who knew her. She hosted many family gatherings but also loved to go out to eat. She and her husband enjoyed having parties with their friends and traveling together.
Janie was a devout Catholic who attended St. Raphael Church for 56 years. She generously supported many Catholic charities. But most of all she was our prayer warrior. She devotedly prayed the rosary every day and loved the Lord with all her heart.
Janie volunteered at The Pregnancy Resource Center, the St. Raphael Altar Society and worked with her husband at The Salvation Army.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Aileen Brooks, her brother William Brooks Jr., her husband Robert Massey, her grandson Jeremy Boyd, and her great grandson Zachary Clooney.
She is survived by her children; Pat Elliott (Jim), Peggy Boone, Robert Jr. (Glenda) and Paula Fowler (Jimmy) her grandchildren; Christel, Kevin, Robert III, Erin, Lauren and Audrey; and 12 great grandchildren.
We would like to especially thank Dr. David Overley for his extraordinary care of our mother. She loved him so much and we all thought the world of him.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to The St. Raphael Capital Campaign, The Little Way Pregnancy Center and The Right to Life of Louisville.
Due to the pandemic, there will be a private visitation at Highlands Funeral Home followed by an open funeral Mass at St. Raphael Church at 10:00 am on Friday, January 8.
