Beverly Jean Ropke, beloved aunt and sister, passed Thursday, April 23rd, at the age of 82.

Beverly, or Jeanie, as she was known to her family, was born October 20, 1938, to Angele and Van Buren Ropke of Louisville, Kentucky. Beverly received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky, and her Masters of Education from Indiana University. She spent her teaching career at Shawnee and Barrett middle schools.

Beverly was generous to a fault. Deeply dedicated to her family, Beverly was a second mother to her nephews. She was passionate about athletics, and was an enthusiastic supporter of UK sports, especially basketball.

Loved and revered by all those whose lives she touched, Beverly’s legacy of kindness will live on through the children whom she helped raise.

Beverly is survived by her sisters, Gayle Greer and Lynn Ropke; her niece, Stacy Winn-Thiel; and her nephews, Michael Pratt and Edward Ropke.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40205.

Same-day visitation will be 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
