Obituary for William Henry "Bill" Wagner

William Henry "Bill" Wagner
William H. “Bill” Wagner, 88, of Louisville, died Wednesday November 6th, 2013 at his home.

Born in Louisville on June 23rd, 1925, he was a graduate of St. Boniface, St. Xavier High School, Xavier University and Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre.

Mr. Wagner was a 4th generation licensed funeral director and embalmer and an owner of Bosse, Embry-Bosse, and Highlands Funeral Homes, Inc.; he was also the secretary and treasurer of Funeral Auto Company, Inc. Bill was a longtime parishioner of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church; he loved family, travel, film, art, music, poetry and the U of L Cardinals.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane Miller Wagner; his children, Susan Hughes (Mason), William B. Wagner, Donna Heil (Jack), James M. Wagner, and Robert C. Wagner (Laura); sister, Mary Byrne; grandchildren, Kristy (Geoff), Katie (Dan), Chelsea (Jason), Eric, Elise, Molly, Gretchen, Grace & Christopher; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Alice, Benjamin and Oliver; step-grandchildren, A. J. (Will) and Marc; step-great-grandchildren, George and Sam; and many loving nieces and nephews.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 9th, 2013, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2141 Lancashire Avenue, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 7th, at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison Avenue; and Friday, 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. John Center or Wayside Christian Mission.
