Obituary for Carol Mills Holzknecht Nord

Carol Mills Holzknecht Nord, 71, of Louisville passed away December 25, 2022 at Baptist Hospital East.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lavinia Holzknecht; her sisters, Mary Holzknecht and Joan Atchison; and brother-in-law Charles, “Lefty” Atchison.

Carol was a proud graduate of Assumption High School and she attended Bellarmine University. She retired from Olash Medical and did personalized labels for Van Winkle.

Although she was proud of the work she did, her true pride and joy was her family. Carol loved her family fiercely. She was married to her beloved John Sr. for 50 years. She was a devoted mother to Kristen (Eric) Walters and John Jr (Amanda) Nord. In 2002 her life got grander when she became a Grammy. Her six grandchildren, Dylan, Gracyn, Madelyn, Henry, Livi and Emma Kate were the most precious to her. Anyone who ever asked Carol how she was doing got very little detail about her; but got a full description of everything going on with her kids and grandkids.

Carol remained close with her three brothers, Jack (Patti) Holzknecht, Chuck (Phyllis) Holzknecht and Bob (Nita) Holzknecht, as well as her sisters-in-law, Karen (Randy) Sullivan and Marsha (Larry) Kareken. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well great nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends who became family.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 30th, 3:00 - 7:00 pm, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Her service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, Dec. 31st, at Highlands, with burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
