Obituary for Carolyn Virginia MAKK

MAKK, CAROLYN VIRGINIA COOKE, 68, of Louisville, KY died on Friday, January 15, 2010 at her home in Palm Beach, FL with her husband by her side.
Born in Bowling Green, KY, she was raised in nearby Smiths Grove, and was preceded in death by her grandparents Jessie Jane Kirtley and Israel Lee Cooke, parents Kathleen Thompson and Marshall Kirtley Cooke, as well as her sister Marilyn Francelle Cooke.
Mrs. Makk was an alumna of St. Catherine Academy in New Haven, KY and Florida State University. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. She was also a longtime member of Big Spring Country Club.
Mrs. Makk is survived by her husband Dr. Laszlo Makk; sons, Dr. Laszlo J.K. Makk (Ginger), Dr. Stephen P. Makk (Melissa), Christopher L. Makk (Carolyn), all of Louisville and Andrew F. Makk (Catherine), of New York City; and grandchildren Laci, Lucas, and Sophia; Olivia, Davis and Hunter; Marshall and Matthew. She is also survived by a sister, Dianne Cooke Jones of Bloomfield, CT, and cousins John White Cooke III of Nashville, TN and Joe Cooke of Smiths Grove, KY.
Mrs. Makk was a creative person who loved poetry and literature, enjoyed interior decorating, and had a passion for gardening, food, and cooking. She loved spending time with her family and friends at her homes in Louisville and Palm Beach, and at Six Acorn Farm outside of LaGrange. Her loving and caring ways will be dearly missed.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 639 S. Shelby St., with interment at Cave Hill Cemetery to follow. Visitation will take place from 2 - 8 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at Highlands Funeral Home located at 3331 Taylorsville Road.
The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Dr. John M. Tew Jr. of Cincinnati's Mayfield Clinic, Dr. Elyse Lower of Cincinnati's Barrett Cancer Center, and Dr. Robert Green of Palm Beach for their expert care and dedication.
