Charlene was such an enjoyable nurse to work with. She was smart, caring and straight-up. Her dry sense of humor left everyone laughing and made our work day that much better. When times were hard and our work load was harder, she would find a way to make us laugh about it even though she herself had a rather quiet laugh. I loved her so much and appreciated her candor and wit. She will be greatly missed as she is one who left a great mark on nursing and on our memories. God rest her soul.

During this time of greivement for the Oats Family I am so sorry for your lost. I was a former employee of Central State Hospital and had many conversations with Charlene. And she was a HOOT! She expressed her feelings 24/7. I must say she is definitely one of kind. She will never be forgotten. My family and I are praying for strength for the Oats Family during this difficult time. Our deepest saddest condolences. From Elisha Isom & Family.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Charlene. Charlene was my preceptor as a new mother/baby nurse on night shift. She was so speedy and did everything for herself. I thought, "How am I going to keep up with her?" She was an amazing nurse and always spoke her mind. She loved her Pepsi! She was always super early to work and would get her assignment and report and be ready to go before others on her shift ever showed up. She taught me to be a great nurse. I will always treasure those memories. She also loved her 3 girls as well as those grandbabies. She would rave about them all the time. She would do anything for them. RIP Charlene

My heart is so heavy that we have lost such a beautiful soul. I worked with Charlene at Central State Hospital and her smile always brightened my day. She never missed the opportunity to ask me how I was doing or to give me words of encouragement after a long shift. It was clear how much she cared about others, her patients and colleagues alike. She was one of the most dedicated and hardworking people I have ever met. She found a way to always speak her mind and to be respected while at the same time being nurturing and loved by so many. I admired her and enjoyed being in her presence. I will miss her and the hospital will not be the same without Charlene. My sadness is only dampened by how happy I am to have known her. Rest peacefully my dear.
