Obituary for Charles Francis "Charlie" Clephas

Charles “Charlie” Clephas, 75, of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, April 17th, 2021.

He was a retired pipefitter and plumber for UA Local 502. He was a 55 year member of the Pipefitters Union; chairman of the board of trustees for the Buechel Fire Department; past president of Greater Louisville Central Labor Council; past president and secretary-treasurer of Local 502; and a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church. He was a 1965 graduate of Trinity High School.

Charles was active in civic and community organizations and a lifelong advocate of union labor rights. He was a member of South Park Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Julia Clephas; and two brothers, Tom and Jerry Clephas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Kelley Clephas; his daughters, Cheryl Distler (George), Michelle Arnold (Andy), Christy Rhodes (Jamie) and Amanda Lambert (Joe); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Julianna, Madison, Allie, Brennen, Jack, Jordan, Blake, Ryan, Nicholas, Emma and Noah; one great grandson, Atticus; two sisters, Ann Keene and Mary Clephas-Mannix; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 22nd, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY, 40205.

His funeral Mass will be Friday, 11:00 am, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 3521 Goldsmith Ln., Louisville, KY 40220. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
