Obituary for Charles Anthony Trapp

Charles Anthony Trapp, 86 of Louisville, passed away on Friday, September 9th, 2022.

Charles was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 9th, 1936, to Michael and Bernadine Trapp. He was a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago (B.S. 1958) and the University of Chicago (Ph.D 1963). He also received a postdoctoral fellowship to the University of Oxford. He was a professor of chemistry at the University of Louisville for 40 years. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Agnes Ford and two brothers, Francis and Michael Trapp.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Eileen (LeClair) Trapp, his two sons, Kenneth Trapp (Randelyn) and Jeffrey Trapp, his step sons, Jim Martel (Beverly), David Martel (Amenia), Tom Martel (Patty), Brian Martel (Susan) and John Martel, four grandchildren, Audrey, Michael, Emily and Matthew and 10 step grandchildren, Michael, Rachael, Aaron, Katie, Andrew, Bobby, Steven, Jessica, Matthew and Sarah.

His memorial visitation will be Wednesday, September 14th, from 9am-10am, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2141 Lancashire Ave, Louisville, KY 40205, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10am.
