Obituary for Clark Weeks

Robert “Clark” Weeks passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023 at the age of 90. Clark was a very private person in life. Despite this, there are many who will miss his dry wit, warm smile, and seemingly bottomless well of wisdom.

Clark was a proud product of the Louisville’s West End, graduating from St Columba and Flaget High School, Class of 1951. He grew up spending time with his large family on Harrods Creek and building boats with his father. He went on to gain his Bachelors of Engineering at the University of Louisville. While at college, he was drafted for the Korean War but was told “they needed engineers” so he served after graduation at the South Korean border. After serving, he went on to gain his Masters of Engineering and worked at LG&E for 33 years. He was one of the founding members of Highland Youth Recreation (HYR) were he coached and made t-shirts for the teams.

Clark wasn’t much for crowds. But it wasn’t hard at all to get him to share a story with you. His hobbies were quiet and family centered. He enjoyed genealogy, a love that he eventually passed down to his son Michael. He was always up to date with current news. Listening to things like NPR and MSNBC in his many hours of downtime while definitely sharing his thoughts and feelings with the news anchors.

A lifelong Catholic, he never missed a Sunday mass, even when declining mobility prevented him from joining the other parishioners at Saint Agnes Church, of whom he was a member for many years. He also donated to many charities and causes that were close to his heart, such as St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Library Foundation, and The Filson Club.

He now is reunited with his beloved wife Milly, whom he was married to for 25 years; and his parents.

He was preceded in death by his wife Milly Carricato Weeks, his parents James and Margaret Weeks, his siblings James, Mary, Dorothy, Alma and Margaret. He is survived by his three children: Beth, Michael (Sophie), and Susan, as well as his 5 grandchildren: Clare, Jesse, Owen, Samuel, and Andrew.

The visitation will be at Highlands Funeral Home on Sunday, March 26th, 2023 from 2 pm to 8 pm, located at 3331 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40205. A Mass and Catholic burial will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11 am at St. Agnes Church at 1920 Newburg Rd, Louisville, KY 40205 followed by a burial at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Humane Society
