Clemens  Stuecker Jr.
Clemens John (CJ) Stuecker Jr., 89, passed away after a brief illness. He was born in Louisville and lived here until 1977, when he and his wife, Rose Mary, and their children moved to the Washington, D.C. suburb of Cheverly, Maryland. They returned to Louisville upon retirement.
CJ was a class of 1946 graduate of St. Xavier High School. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 and was deployed to Korea. His career was focused in snack foods, he held various positions locally at Gordon’s Potato Chips, in Washington, D.C. at Mann’s Potato Chips and in Baltimore at Ihrie’s Potato Chips.CJ’s volunteer activities included serving on the school board at Resurrection Catholic School, coordinating the Fall and Spring Mercy Academy/Assumption High School Festivals, volunteering at bingo at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cheverly and participating in the FAN Club at St. Therese Catholic Church in Louisville. He was a life-long Catholic and he and his wife were most recently members of St. Therese for a number of years. They enjoyed the picnics and fish frys and made countless cakes for the cake wheel.In his spare time, CJ enjoyed flying remote control airplanes and could be found many an afternoon at the flying field near McNeely Lake.He and his wife Rose Mary enjoyed traveling; the annual summer vacations with the kids produced many adventures. During retirement, they would visit family in Maryland several times per year, hit the road for a multi-week road trip in the Fall and went through a few cars following the grandkids' sports teams.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Snodderly, his sister Margaret Peterworth, his brother Richard Stuecker and his parents, Clemens Stuecker Sr. and Margaret Stetson Stuecker.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose Mary (Champy) Stuecker, a sister, Mary Ann Fink, children, Dennis Stuecker (Gretchen) and Joan Ferch, and grandchildren, Constance Kuebbing (Alex), Derek Ferch, Suzy Stuecker and Carleton Stuecker, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Highland Funeral Home,3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville on Wednesday, July 18th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 19th at 10:00 AM at St Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 2141 Lancashire Avenue, Louisville. The family will gather on Friday July 20th at 11:00 AM CDT at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak, 3745 Old US Hwy 45 South Paducah, KY for a brief visitation, followed by burial at 1:00 PM CDT in the cemetery at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 6705 Mayfield Road, Paducah.
