Obituary for Cletus William Holden

Cletus W. Holden, 98, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 31, 2022, at Episcopal
Church Home.

Cletus was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and a member of St. Athanasius Catholic
Church. He retired from the Gene Vine Company. Music was a big part of his life, proudly
playing the saxophone and clarinet. He was the co-leader of the Holden-Baker Orchestra and
also played with the Holy Name Band. Cletus was a Veteran of World War II, serving
honorably in the United States Navy where he was part of a Naval band.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Y. Holden and a sister, Bernice Nolan. Survivors
include his sons: Stephen J. (Sarah) and Jack C. (Sue); daughters: M. Sue Holden, Sharon E.
Ledington (Kerry) and Diane L. Parrott (Mitchell). He also had eight grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff of Episcopal Church Home that took
such good care of Cletus. And, to Hosparus for their guidance and support in his final days.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at St.
Athanasius Church, 5915 Outer Loop with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from
4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331
Taylorsville Rd.
