PIERCE, Dillard
91 of Louisville, passed away on November 19, 2018, after a courageous battle with health issues.

He was born February 12, 1927, in Paris, TN (Henry County). He attended Spring Hill and Henry High schools.
On July 4, 1950, Dillard married Mildred “Regina” Ross and celebrated 65 years of marriage. He first met Mom at Spring Hill Baptist church. He loved his “’Giner.”

Dillard was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Humphreys Pierce and father, Dudley Pierce.
He is survived by two daughters: Sharon Kay Williams (Larry) and Patricia Jean Iglehart (Tom) of Louisville.
Dillard dearly loved his grandchildren—Jill Williams Stephens (Chris) of Franklin, TN, Erin Leigh Iglehart of Louisville, and grandson Bryce David Williams (Toni) of Indianapolis. His five great-grandchildren left lovemarks on his heart, visiting often to give him special hugs—Abby, Luke & Violet Williams, and Savannah & Cole Stephens.

Dillard moved to Louisville from Paris in 1951 to work for the L&N Railroad as a Car Inspector, retiring after 44 years—two years past retirement age.

As a veteran of the US Army, Dillard served as a Tech5 with the 313th Engineer Combat Battalion in WWII from 1945-1946. His battalion constructed roads and bridges for troops to advance. He earned the WWII Victory Medal.

Dillard was a member of Shively Baptist Church, Scottish Rite Temple since 1952, Kosair Shrine Temple since 1974, a Kentucky Colonel, and a 68-year member of Suburban Masonic Lodge #740.
Dillard & Regina were members of Belles & Beaus square dance club from 1994-2011, where they cherished lasting friendships.

Visitation will be held from 2-7pm Friday, November 23, 2018, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. His celebration of life will be Saturday, November 24, at 11am at Highlands, with Resthaven Cemetery as his resting place. Dr. Russell Bennett and Jim Taylor will officiate.

Memorial gifts may be made to Kosair Charities—a philanthropy very close to his heart—982 Eastern Parkway, 40217 or online at kosair.org. Again, we express our sincere gratitude to CBC, Dr. Kommor, and staff for unparalleled medical care.
