Obituary for Dorothy Rose Allen (Lauyans)
Dorothy Rose Lauyans Allen, 97 years of age, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023. Dorothy was born on June 6, 1926, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Robert and Lena Lauyans. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Allen, as well as two brothers, Robert and Johnny, and her sister, Helen.
Dorothy was a devout Catholic and a member of St. John Paul II church. She was a career employee of L&N and CSX railroads. Dorothy was a member of the Seneca Women’s Golf Club as well as an avid tennis and trailblazing pickleball player.
Dorothy is survived by her six children, Linda Knop, Jack Allen (Susan), Sheila Haulter, Kevin Allen (Micki), Lisa Prestigiacomo (Bobby), and Keith Allen (Darlene). She was blessed with ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 3539 Goldsmith Lane, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hosparus Health, 6200 Dutchman’s Lane, Louisville, Kentucky.
