THOMAS, DUANE MORRIS, 62, of Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
He was born May 8,1958, to Charles Hugh "Red" Thomas Jr. and Annie Karem George Thomas. Duane grew up in Okolona and attended St. Athanasius School. He was a graduate of DeSales High School and the University of Louisville.
Duane proudly served the City of Louisville with the Louisville Police Department. He retired as a detective after 20 years of service. Following retirement, he worked as the terminal manager at Louisville Produce Company for 10 years.
Duane was a loving husband, supportive father, and loyal friend, who will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
Duane is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Kathleen Thomas; daughter, Jillian McClure (DJ); sister, Deborah Lopez-Thorpe (Art); brothers, Doug Thomas (Doris), Darrell "Doc" Thomas (Sharon); aunt, Mary "Aunt Georgie" Davis; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and cousins.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the medical staff at Baptist Hospital East CCU, ICU, and Palliative Care for the care and comfort they provided Duane.
The visitation and prayer service will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY, on Friday, January 29, 2021.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with service immediately following.
Duane will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
