Elizabeth “Betty” J. Carrier, 81 of Louisville, Ky., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, with friends and family by her side.
She had a passion for gardening, cooking and working puzzles. She enjoyed cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats and spending time with family and friends. As the matriarch of her family, she was willing to support those she loved anytime she was needed. From guidance and advice, to decorating or painting everyone’s houses, she was always ready to help.
She was a loving, intelligent, quick-witted, funny and strong-willed mother, grandmother (Meme), sister and friend. She was an active member of Shelby House, where she resided for the past 20 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Carrier; parents, Gilbert and Florence Ryan; brother Gilbert “Bud” Ryan; and sister, Rita Ryan. She will be sorely missed, and is survived by her daughters, Kim Kirkpatrick and Theresa Burdette; granddaughters Lauren, Carly (Josh), Nicole and Kelly; sister, Joyce Renfro; brother Dan Ryan (Carol); sister-in-law, Betty Ryan and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. at Highlands Funeral Home, located at 3331 Taylorsville Road.
Betty was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
