Obituary for Eunice Chism (Mattingly)

Eunice Ann Mattingly Chism was born in Washington County, Kentucky on June 18,1935, to the late Albert and Marie Mattingly.  She moved to Louisville and was working for the phone company when she met and married the love of her life, Dumas Chism, and they began building their life together.  Eunice spent her time raising her daughter, fishing with Dumas and working as a clerk for the state of Kentucky prior to her retirement.

After retirement, Eunice devoted countless hours to more fishing, traveling and working with the church. She was a past member of Eastern Star and current member of Graceland Baptist Church where she served as a Deacon at one point. Nothing pleased Eunice more than being with her family, good friends and a really good
laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years; and siblings, Billy, Frankie, Rebecca, Junior, Butch and Mennio. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle; son-in-law, Lester; grand-puppy, Shelby; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Pat Mattingly; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Dave Tilford, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday, July 25th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26th in the Highlands Funeral Home chapel.

The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the nurses and aides at Nazareth-Clifton; 600 and 400 West, Norton Brownsboro Hospital. In the last weeks of her life, both facilities provided Eunice with love, care and friendship that was second to none.
