Judy Henry
Evelyn was such a good friend to me. She was ALWAYS cheerful and willing to help or just talk. Many times she stepped in where Mother left off, and I needed that desperately. She was a good friend to my mother, too. I believe they spent a lot of time on the phone each day. Often, Mother would hang up, laughing because Evelyn would say, "gotta go, one of the kids fell in the ditch!".
She had a beautiful singing voice. We would listen to the "Words of Life" broadcast on the radio and Mother would say, "listen closely -- and you can hear Evelyn." (I always imagined I could, and I could picture her singing).
She was a wonderful example of a Christian wife, mother and genuine follower of Christ. She was a treasure!
Buddy, Tommy, my sweet Sharon, Patsy, Steven, please know how much I feel your loss just now. I'm looking forward to singing with Evelyn someday -- I never got to do that!
