Obituary for Evelyn T. WILDING

of Louisville and Ft. Meyers, FL, passed away Sunday, Januuary 31, 2010 at Baptist East Palliative Care. She was the former Evelyn Gordon. Evelyn was the beloved wife for 67 1/2 years of William F. "Bill" Wilding, Jr. She was born in Todd's Point, KY to Ernest L. and Flora Pace Gordon. She was a beloved wife, sister, and mother. Evelyn was also the most extraordinarily proud and giving grandmother. She loved UK basketball and football, playing golf, bridge with her friends, visiting the casinos, bragging about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spending time with her family. Evelyn also made the best homemade gumbo, red beans and rice, and milkshakes around. She was a long-time member of the Meadowview Presbyterian Church, charter member of Woodhaven Country Club in Ft. Meyers, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, George L. Gordon and Mary Gordon Pfeiffer. Survivors besides her husband include sons, William F. "Bill" Wilding III (Joyce) and Ernest L. "Ernie" Wilding (Mary); grandchildren, Ginger Wilding Cloud (Chan), Kristin Wilding Schweiger (Jason), John Wilding (Rebecca), Katie Wilding Williams (Eric), Michael Wilding, and Lindsey Wilding; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Gilbert Ross Gordon and Robert A. Pfeiffer (Ada). Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 4, at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. followed by a burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Highlands. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Kosair Shriners or Meadowview Presbyterian Church, 2944 Breckinridge Ln.
