Frances Walter (Fran), 88, passed away peacefully in Louisville, KY, on January 13, 2021.
She was born in Slovan, PA, to Mary and Anthony Dvorsak. After graduating from Burgettstown High School, she attended comptometer school in Pittsburgh, PA, and worked for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
She joined the U.S. Navy in 1952, and served at the naval air base in Memphis, TN , where she met Eugene F. Walter. She married Eugene and moved to Louisville, KY, where she was employed at GE and American Tobacco Company.
They moved to Lexington, KY in 1959 where they raised four children. After 28 years of marriage, Eugene passed away in 1982. She later met and married Stanley Christle, with whom she traveled extensively, visiting every state in the U.S. (except for two), and taking many exciting cruises together.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene F. Walter of Louisville; second husband, Stanley Christle of Lexington, KY; as well as siblings, Mary, Cecelia, Betty, John, Anthony, and Jimmy.
She is survived by her sister, Theresa Rozmus of Slovan, PA; brother, Robert Dvorsak of Linthicum Heights, MD; sons, David Walter (Delane) of Lake Mary, FL, Richard Walter (Rebecca), and Joseph Walter (Kenda) of Wilmington, NC; daughters Diane Sehlinger (Tom) of Louisville, KY; 10 grandchildren, Katie Walter Bowman, Lauren and Eric Walter, Elise and Caroline Walter, Rachel and Karen Frances Walter, Chrissie, Nick, and Michael Sehlinger, and three great-grandchildren.
A private Mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 Barr Street, Lexington, KY, 40507; with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 874 West Main Street, Lexington, KY, 40508.
The family would like to thank the Norton Brownsboro Hospital staff and Hosparus of Louisville for all of their kindness and compassion.
