Obituary for Franklin J. Pierce

Franklin J. Pierce
Franklin J. Pierce, 90, passed away on May 5, 2018 at his home. One of 13, Frank was always the resourceful one with many talents. From an early age, he always knew just how to build things, fix things and engineer things. His children, family and friends always called him “Mr. Fix It”. He was generous with his talents and often wore a T-shirt that said “Call Frank”. He was an engineer for the Illinois Central Railroad for 42 years. He had many stories to tell about his time in the engine. His all time favorite was just how fast you could drive a train down Muldraugh Hill. He was a member of Retired Rails. He and mom square danced with the Cardinal Twirlers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Betty J (Knorpp) Pierce, his children, Sharron Hakola (Dave), F. David Pierce (Mary) and Linda Pierce, 5 grandchildren, Stacie Jones, Alechia Roederer, Sarah Mann (Doug), Ben Pierce (Stephanie) and Jason Bowlin (Chris), 9 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and 6 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 9th from 3 to 8PM at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Funeral service will be Thursday at 12PM at the Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to Hosparus.
