Fred passed away and was received into heaven on November 10, 2018. He was born on November 15, 1931 to the late Robert and Louise Merrick. He was dedicated in life to Jesus Christ and his family and friends. Fred had a passion for construction and building as he managed Merrick Construction at an early age and starting Merrick Printing in 1964. Today, Merrick Construction formed in 1902 is in its 5th generation of a family business and Merrick Printing in its 3rd.

Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Marcie and also his son Fred J. Merrick, Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Martie Van Stockum (Chas); sons, Bill (Midge), David (Sue), Matt (Jennifer) and daughter-in-law Beth Merrick. He was affectionately known as “Gaga” to his 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, nieces and nephews and many friends.

His funeral Mass will be at 11 AM Wednesday, November 14th, at Holy Trinity Church, 501 Cherrywood Rd.

Visitation will be from 2 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, November 13th at Highlands Funeral Home at 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
