Obituary for George Joseph Hellmann
George Joseph Hellmann, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2022, at his home. He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and owner of Woody’s Tavern for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony, Sr. and Frances Pinto Hellmann; his brother, Anthony Hellmann, Jr.; and sister, JoAnn Sherer. George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Byron Hellmann; sisters, Frances Wortham and Juda Hellmann; and his nieces, great-nieces and nephews.
George's visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9th, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. His funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. that evening at Highlands.
There will be a gathering at Highlands Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10th, followed by a funeral procession to Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road, for a graveside committal service.
Donations in George’s memory may be made to Hosparus of Louisville or the Kentucky Humane Society.
