Obituary for George Younger, Jr.
George Browning Younger, JR., 84, passed away, on May 8, 2023, following an extended illness. He was born in Louisville, KY on March 26, 1939. George, attended Louisville Male High School, Western Kentucky University and served in the US Army Reserve. He owned and operated several successful businesses including Younger’s Frame Shop, later Younger’s Gallery, Ice Skating By George and Saint George and the Dragon British Pub in Frankfort KY. He retired from State Government in 2004.
George was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge Suburban 740, Kosair Shrine, where he served as Potentate in 2020, and Royal Order of Jesters Court 131.
He is survived by three children, George B. Younger III, (Christine); and Tevis Wade (Nick), ten grand-children, George IV, Maxwell and Penelope; Cade, Kiley, Kayla, Jaxon, Owen and Macey, a sister Jane Younger, a brother Gene R. Younger, Sr. (Donna) and long term friend and companion, Judith Henry, all of Louisville KY. He was predeceased by his mother and father, George B. Younger Sr. and Margueritte Younger and a brother Robert Younger.
George enjoyed his annual trip to Florida and fishing off the pier at Nevarre. He was an avid reader, loving anything historical and had an amazing memory for detail. He was a proud father and grandfather; a loving son, brother and friend. George will be remembered for his tireless energy and willingness to help those in need.
Visitation: Monday, May 15, 2023, 2-8pm at Highland Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Interment in Mount Holly Cemetery, Fairdale KY. There Will be a Masonic Service on Monday at 6:30pm. Highlands is in charge of final arrangements. Go to their website for more information.
