Obituary for Geraldine "Gerri" Lesousky

LESOUSKY, GERALDINE "GERRI" ANN, 75, of Louisville, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 26, 2010.
Gerri, who was a graduate of Mercy High School, dedicated many years to the Rights of the Unborn, volunteered at the Pregnancy Resource Center, and was a former member of the St. Pius Bereavement Choir. As a lifelong advocate with profound empathy for all children in need, she provided a temporary home over the years for many young residents of both St. Joseph and the former St. Thomas-Vincent Children's Homes. Gerri had great compassion for those less fortunate than her as she provided countless food and clothing donations for the poor through several organizations.
As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Gerri took great pride in providing a loving, Christian home for her family. She took great joy in making her home a special place for everyone who walked through the door. One of her favorite past times was creating just the right cake or just the right handcrafted decoration for the many occasions her family and friends clelebrated throughout the years.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Michael Lesousky; her parents, John and Elizabeth Herbert; and brother, Maurice Herbert.
She is survived by her children, Mary Beth Singleton (Russ), John Lesousky, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, David Lesousky (Lynn), of Reddick, FL and Lavina O'Connor (Robert); her grandchildren, April Clifford, Crystal and Brandon Singleton, Joshua, Michael and Caroline Lesousky, Fred Barbee, Veronica Kemper (Eric), and Clare O'Connor, five great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Edelen; brother in-law, Rev. John Lesousky C.R.; sisters in-law, Anna V. Lesousky and Frankie Lesousky as well as several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her companion, Charles Martin.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Baptist East Hospital for their outstanding and compassionate care for both our mother and father in the last year.
Mass to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Albert the Great Church, 1395 Girard Dr., with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Family Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road with prayer service at 7 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy can be made through contributions to Pregnancy Resource Center, 1143 S. 6th St., Louisville, KY 40203 or Dare To Care Food Bank, 5803 Fern Valley Road, Louisville, KY 40228.
