Obituary

Hazel Ruby (Middleton) Vibbert left this earthly domain in the early morning hours of November 22, 2020 and is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Hazel was born on June 30, 1929 to Herbert Middleton and Jeanette Beatrice (Hibbs) Middleton of Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Haulie C. Vibbert, and her sisters Doris Dean(Middleton) Reuter and Mildred Jean (Middleton) Davis.

In her early teens Hazel established herself as a patriot and hard working woman by involving herself with the Civil Air Patrol. She was intimately entrenched in all the efforts to support our service members overseas during World War II. She learned and developed vital skills during this time which proved invaluable in helping raise her 5 children. Later in life Hazel began a career with Brown-Forman that spanned nearly 30 years. She was a member of Kentucky Avenue Christian Church where she was actively involved in teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Hazel was an accomplished seamstress and renowned for her skills in making her own clothes, as well as those of her children. She was also quite handy with both crochet and knitting needles. Hazel spent countless hours reading and collecting books and enjoyed watching classic movies of yesteryear. She was passionate for the arts and visiting museums, with J.B. Speed being her favorite. Hazel loved to travel and visited several countries in Europe. She made two trips to Israel and the Middle East. She loved the tropics of Hawaii and visited there twice. Hazel enjoyed most her travels across the United States of America in her beloved Maverick automobile. Hazel was an avid gardener and spent many hours canning the fruits of her labors.

Hazel is survived by her youngest sister Janice Marie (Middleton) Geoghegan, her eldest son Stephen W. Vibbert, daughters Suzanne (Vibbert) Brecht, Jennifer L. (Vibbert) Mundy, Rebecca J. (Vibbert) Estes, and youngest child Michael C. Vibbert. In addition Hazel has 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Hazel will be remembered as a loving mother and giving woman of faith. She will be honored and cherished by her children and family. Our thanks and gratitude to all who send and offer their condolences, prayers and expressions of love.
