Obituary for Helen J Mullin (Feller)

Helen Jo Mullin (née Feller), 92, of Louisville, KY, joined our heavenly father on Friday, December 18, 2020. Helen was known for her charming, gracious, gentle and happy disposition. Her delightful nature made all who came in contact with her better for it.

She was born and raised in Louisville, KY to Ambrose Joseph and Eleanor Marie (née Dowdle) Feller. Here she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart and dancing partner, Dr. Thomas E. Mullin. Life took them to Elizabeth, NJ and Stillwater, OK, but they always returned home to Louisville, KY where she & her husband primarily raised their four children.

A loving wife and mother, she also gave back to her community, volunteering with many organizations throughout her life, including the University of Louisville Women’s Club, the Little Sisters of the Poor, the American Red Cross, and the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts to name a few.

Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; and siblings, Eleanor “Nonie”, Joseph & Ambrose “Juny”. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Deane (Bill), Susan Toutant (Roy), Thomas Mullin (Teresita), and Michael Mullin (Dena); grandchildren Elaine (Andy), Amanda (Stephen), Michelle (Chase), Nicholas and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Amelia and Maxwell; and siblings Mary Ann, George and Martin.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no visitation at this time. Once it is safe to do so, the family will host a celebration of Helen’s life. The target is Aug 2021, around her 93rd birthday. A family-only Mass will be held in her remembrance with the burial immediately following.

The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the loving members of Nazareth Home for their kindness, camaraderie, and care for our mom, especially when we could not be with her.

The family requests that contributions in Helen’s memory be made to the Dr. Thomas E. Mullin Scholarship Fund, J. B. Speed School of Engineering, University of Louisville.
