Obituary for Helen York (Burns)

Helen M. York passed away peacefully on February 9, 2022. She was born in Louisville, Ky. on February 27, 1932. She would have celebrated her 90th birthday in 18 days.

Helen worked many years in sales for women’s better dresses. She also worked in banking but her real passion was her antique business where she spent over 50 years. As the owner of York House Antiques, she was an antique dealer, worked estate sales and as a consultant for others in the antique business. She had a wonderful sense of humor and wit. She loved to travel here and abroad by land and by sea. She was a faithful southern Baptist woman and raised both of her children in the church, where they remain today.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bessie Burns and two of her siblings, Forrest (Frosty) Burns and Raphael (Boots) Burns.

She is survived by her son Linc York (Lynn), her daughter Kelly Reeder (Wayne) and her sister Mabel Schifferdecker. She was the grandmother of 5, great grandmother of 13 and one great great grandson, Brody Bax whom she was able to hold just hours before she passed.

Visitation will be at Highlands Funeral Home (3331 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40205) on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 11 AM – 1PM. Funeral service to follow at 1 PM. She will be buried at Cave Hill Cemetery in a private service.

Memorials preferred to Westport Road Baptist Church in Louisville or Samaritan’s Purse.
