Obituary for Iain James Clinkingbeard

Like a Diamond in the Sky

Iain James Clinkingbeard of Louisville passed away on Tuesday, June 1st at the age of 36.

He lived with his head in the clouds and his eyes on the stars.

He was born in England where he spent his adventurous childhood. His view of the world forever embraced his English and American heritage in wonderful and quirky ways.

Iain was born with an infinite curiosity about the world and he shared his love for life and music in all their richness and complexity with his wife and son.

He had a wry and wicked sense of humor and loved everything mechanical.

Iain was loving, compassionate, witty and fiercely loyal to his friends and family.

He married his high school sweetheart Julie and two years ago the birth of their darling son Magnus completed their loving family.

Iain is survived by his adored wife Julie, beloved son Magnus, parents Jill and Brion Clinkingbeard and baby sister Alix. His grand-parents Ruth and Charlie Clark, in-laws Wendy Carson Yoder, Roger and Angie Yoder, Bryce and Brandi Yoder , Amy (Corinne) Yoder and Marcos Garcia as well as loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews at home and abroad. And constant, loving friends both near and far, who were touched by the power of his personality.

Husband, father, brother, son, friend.

He will be greatly missed.

Shine on you crazy diamond!

Visitation will be 2:00-5:00pm on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Iain’s name to Louisville Public Media, Olmstead Parks Conservancy or Kentuckians for the Commonwealth.
