Obituary for James Donald Carrico

Carrico, James Donald “Don”, 90, of Louisville, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, April 10, 2022.

Don was born to the late Flaget and Hattie Carrico, in Louisville, KY; a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He was retired from Kroger Co. with 40 years of service. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Don was a spiritual man who expressed his faith through devotional readings, especially Thomas Merton; and when moved by the Holy Spirit would record his thoughts through journaling. He enjoyed his visits to the Abbey of Gethsemane with his brothers and was committed to his faith. Don was a graduate of Saint Xavier High School and a proud U.S. Marine. He enjoyed the sun and yard work; loved all animals, and wanted to raise as many as possible. For years, Don and Jewell participated in many square dance competitions while traveling in their RV. He loved playing billiards in league play and was a lifelong UofL Cardinals sports fan.

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Jewell Worley, his parents and brothers, Joe and Bob Carrico.

Left to cherish his memory are son, James “Jamie” Carrico; and daughters, Yvonne Quinn (Dennis) and Kimberly Brock (Chris); grandchildren, Robert James Quinn (Kristen), Kevin Donald Quinn, Angela-Rose Quinn, Emily Brock, Grace Brock, Agnes Brock, and Frank Brock; siblings, Bill and Larry Carrico.

A mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, April 18th, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 509 Breckenridge Lane with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 7 Monday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
