Obituary for James Anton "Jim" McIntyre

James Anton "Jim" McIntyre went to join his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022.

Jim was born on December 31st, 1931, to Robert J. and Gertrude McIntyre. Jim was a proud graduate of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Xavier High School and the University of Notre Dame. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Jim advanced to the rank of Major during his time with the Air Force Reserves.

Jim joined, then owned and operated for 60 years, the Horton Adjustment Company, which later became McIntyre, Gilligan & Mundt Insurance Adjusters, Inc. Jim was a devout Catholic and a champion of the unborn, serving on the board and as president of Right To Life of Louisville for many years. Jim enjoyed memberships, playing cards at The Pendennis Club and golf at Big Spring Country Club, where he was a member and dining room favorite for 65 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two older brothers, Bob and Jack McIntyre.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, Julia Nally McIntyre, to whom he was married for 62 years; two daughters, Susan Gilligan (Mike) and Maryhill Mundt (J.); and his 8 grandchildren, Abigail Datz (James), Michael (Kaitlyn), Molly, Owen and Andrew Gilligan, and JD, Natalie & Isaac Mundt; numerous nieces, nephews and old friends.

The funeral Mass for Jim will be held at 11:50 am, Saturday, November 12th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 510 Breckinridge Lane. Visitation will also be at church from 10:00 am until time of Mass, 11:50 am.
