Obituary for James Robert "Bo" Phillips
James Robert “Bo” Phillips, 74, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.
He was born June 3, 1944, in Lebanon Junction, to the late James and Helen Phillips. He served in the United States Air Force and was a graduate of Bellarmine University. After a long career in sales, Bo got the opportunity to pursue his love of baseball as Executive Director of St. Matthews Baseball and Softball. He spent ten years coaching, teaching, and encouraging hundreds of children, especially his grandchildren.
Bo is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ann; his children Laura Knabel and Glenn Phillips; 5 grandchildren; his sisters, Phyllis (Sherman) Burgin, Judy (Art) Potter, Rita Wetts, and Terry (Eddie) Harned.
The family wishes to thank all of the nurses at Baptist East for their wonderful care in his final days.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, from 3-7pm, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, at 11am, at the funeral home, with visitation from 10am until the time of service.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Matthews Baseball and Softball or to the Parkinson’s Association.
