Obituary for Jane Anne Kessinger (Bruederle)

Jane Anne (Bruederle) Kessinger, born in Louisville on July 5, 1945 to Bernard (BJ) and Anne (Miller) Bruederle, Jane was a firecracker from the outset; she left us on January 8, 2021. An only child, she cared tremendously about her children and grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
She leaves behind her three children: Christian (Sarah), Patrick (Lyndsey), and Jessica; 10 grandchildren: Andrew, Lauren, Mikayla, Samantha, Hallie, Connor, Elizabeth, Simon, Nathan, and Sydney; her former spouse Charlie, and a host of beloved cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A proud graduate of Assumption High School, the University of Louisville, and Bellarmine College (now University), Jane was passionate about education and her life’s work as a Registered Nurse and nurse educator. Ensuring the health and safety of others was vitally important to her throughout her career with the Office of the Inspector General for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and post-retirement as a volunteer long-term care ombudsman for Catholic Charities.
Jane was a stroke survivor and her family is grateful for the care she’s received over the past five years at Forest Springs Health Campus. The nurses, aides and countless other staff members became an extended family to her, and along with her care team from Hosparus Health, brought her peace and comfort in her final days. The family would be remiss to not mention in particular: Jennifer Ritchie, Jennifer Bradbury, Dyshianna Bowen, Rebecca Spurlock, Missie Kitchen, and Lisa Homer. All of these women left an indelible mark on Jane and showed great care and compassion throughout her time at Forest Springs, especially during the isolation of the pandemic and the final weeks of her life.
Memorial gifts may be made to Assumption High School, the Kentucky Humane Society, or Hosparus Health.
Public visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 AM at Highlands Funeral Home on Friday, January 15 with a private, family-only visitation and funeral to follow. An additional public memorial service will be held at a later date.
