Obituary for Janice Upton
Janice Claire Upton, 73 years, “🎼 Born in the U.S.A.” on March 28, 1949, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
Born in Detroit, MI, to the late James and Shirley Upton, Jan was a former English teacher, administrative assistant at Man O’ War Horse Farm, and retired as an administrative assistant from the University of Louisville. She was an active, proud volunteer for the Louisville outreach benevolence group The Flower Buds. Jan’s other joys were filled by spending time with friends and neighbors, daily walking, meaningful time with sister Sally (and their shared four-legged fur babies), and rocking on to Bruce Springsteen. Jan also carried on the family tradition (begun by her grandmother, then mother) of self-appointed grammarian making certain correct and proper English was forever spoken in our family home.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Upton (Linda). Left to cherish her memory are her “favorite sister” Sally Upton and brothers Matthew Upton (Kim) and Mark Upton (Donna), as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jan’s memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7th, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY.
