Obituary for Jayne BecVar (Lair)

Jayne Virginia Lair BecVar passed away on November 14, 2020 in Louisville, KY.

Born September 28, 1923 in Newark, NJ to Mr. and Mrs. George A. Lair, she left this life as she has lived it, gracefully and in surrender to the love of the Divine.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years, Arthur N. BecVar (1911-2002), granddaughter, Angela BecVar, and her brothers, George Lair and Robert Lair.

She is survived by her brother, Reverend Fr. Gerard (Parker) Lair, OSB - New Jersey; her children, Brent A. BecVar - California, Brynn B. Anderson (Carl) -Texas, Bruce R. BecVar (Chera) - Montana, Brian F. BecVar (Shanti) - Kentucky, Bennett R. BecVar (Ann) - Kentucky, Brook A. BecVar (Whit) - Florida; her grandchildren, Kirsten Robbins (Mark) - Indiana, Erin Orrick (Lindsey) - Texas, Byron Anderson (Debbie) - North Carolina, Beth Marschitz (Bernhard) - Georgia; her great grandchildren, Fjola Robbins, Maya Orrick, Landon Orrick, Haiden Reese, Maximus Marschitz and Leopold Marschitz.

Jayne and her husband, Arthur BecVar, were among founding patrons of Bellarmine University from its beginning and each served on Advisory Boards. Jayne served as President of the Bellarmine Women’s Council during the 1970’s. Jayne also provided distinguished service as a recorded narrator of hundreds of books for Louisville Recording for the Blind over more than 35 years.

Memorial Mass to be held at St. Frances of Rome Church on a date to be named.
