Obituary for Jerome G. Wahl

Wahl, Jerome G. “Romie” “Jerry” “Duke”, 95, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 4, 1922 in Louisville, KY. He attended St. Mary’s College in Marion County, KY and graduated from St. Joseph’s College, Rensselaer, IN. He was a Veteran of WWII. For most of his career, he worked at the Falls City Brewing Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Alice, and his son, Michael (Judy); three sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by his children, Jeanne Hettich (Don), Maria Phillips (Jay), Colette Wellendorf (Bill, deceased), Tim Wahl (Bob) and Martha Baumann (George); eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Sr. Siena Marie “Loretta” Wahl, MSBT.
His hobby of rosary making has touched hundreds of lives. He lived a prayer-filled life with great devotion to Mary.
The funeral will be held at Epiphany Catholic Church (914 Old Harrods Creek Rd, 40223) on Friday, August 3, at 11 A.M. with visitation at the Church from 9-11 A.M. prior to the service. Private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
A special thanks to the Nazareth Home for the loving care and community they provided for him these last 5 months as well as the Hosparus team who gave him such loving care these last several days.
