Obituary for John Ray Best Jr.
John "Ray" Best, Jr. 70, of Louisville, passed away on October 21, 2021.
He spent his last days surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Louisville, Ray was the son of the late John and Mary Best. Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Debbie, and his sister Brenda Staman. He is survived by his daughters, Katie Harris (Chris) and Rachel Alexander (Andrew); and his grandchildren, Natalie and Jack. He is also survived by his siblings Carolyn Kidd and Michael Best, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Ray was a graduate of Desales High School where he made many lasting friendships and memories playing football. He worked in the food service industry for over 40 years and loved to cook. He cherished his many friends, enjoying memorable fishing trips and dinners with them throughout the years.
He was a loving husband, adoring grandfather, faithful friend and brother, and devoted father.
The family wishes to thank the amazing caregivers of the Nazareth Home for making his final days peaceful and comfortable. Visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home on Sunday, October 24th from 2-6pm. Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 25th at 10:30am at St Gabriel Catholic Church. Memorial donations may be made to Nazareth Home Louisville.
