John Herman  Gerwing Jr.
John Herman Gerwing, Jr. , 85, of Louisville, passed away June 29, 2018, at home with family.

He was born October 18, 1932 in Louisville, KY and spent most of his life in Louisville. He was a graduate of duPont Manual High School and the University of Louisville. He retired from many years of work with Devoe Coatings and reveled in his time traveling the country building retail outlets. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He served as a scout, troop leader, and camp master for the Boy Scouts of America, volunteered with Junior Achievement, and served as a council member for the City of St. Regis Park.

His wife, Joan Gerwing, and his sister, Mary Virginia Booth, preceded him in death.

John is survived by his daughter, Joyce Gerwing; son, Mark Gerwing; grandchildren, Elli and Amelia Gerwing. He is also survived by his niece and caregiver, Keri Rosson.

John’s family would like to express gratitude for the care given to him in the last years, especially his daughter and his niece, Keri Rosson. Thank you to Tonya Grigsby, Hosparus, and the medical staff at the Veterans Medical Center for all the time and effort spent on John’s behalf.

Visitation for John will be Saturday July, 14, from 2-5PM at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
